Big geospatial marine observation data fusion

The RIMA project is a nationally funded project of the Ligurian district of marine technologies (DLTM – Distretto Ligure delle Tecnologie Marine) aimed at the development of technologies and software for a Mediterranean Integrated Forecast Network for the management of the marine and coastal environment. The RIMA project aims to develop a state-of-the-art information technology and software system for managing and accessing forecast data and promoting the technological development of platforms aimed at optimizing them. The aim of the project is also to demonstrate that the availability of data and forecasts on the state of the sea in real time can help to prevent environmental and infrastructural problems.
In the project, we are specifically investigating how big spatial data technology can be exploited for the management and analysis of data of interest, and to improve fusion of heterogenous observation data coming from diverse sources.
